The State Government of PENANG, Malaysia has initiated the development of the PIHH Development Sdn. Bhd (Halal Penang) to promote, coordinate and develop the halal industries and business in Penang besides providing the platform to diversity Penang’s economy. Spearheading the organisation’s bold initiative is Haji Abdul Malik Kassim, State Minister for Religious Affairs, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. The halal facilitation agency has come a long way gaining global recognition in positioning itself in the halal market since its inception merely 4 years ago.
Unlike other states, Penang develops the halal industry in a holistic approach based on ten (10) clusters: industry, logistics, agro-based industries, research & development (R&D), life sciences, Islamic finance, human capital, tourism & hospitality, marketing & promotion and entrepreneur development.
Since the beginning, Halal Penang has been branding Penang on the halal concept with an ecosystem conducive for the halal industry. While other states are concentrating on promoting theirs parks, Penang adopted a holistic approach that markets the industry park as a oriented concept. Leveraging on Penang’s strength of more than 35 years of manufacturing excellence, Halal Penang provides a business-friendly environment for inventor, an environment with world-class R&D, necessary support services, a fully traceable halal supply chain and excellent infrastructure and amenities ti facilitate a world standard halal hub.
Halal Penang has been actively participating in global scale through strong affiliations with countries such as United Kingdom, Belgium, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), Kuwait, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, New Zealand, Russia, China even expanding mutual relationships with Serbia and Kazakhstan. These affiliations are established to develop and enhance bilateral development and promotion of halal industries in the global market.
