On behalf of Penang Chefs Association, I would like to welcome all our distinguished judges to PIHCC 2017. We are sure that with the quality of entries, the judges will compliment PIHCC 2017 with their knowledge that will further enhance the standard of the competition.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank The Honourable Dato’ Abdul Malik Kassim, State Minister for Religious Affairs, Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs of Penang and Chairman, Halal Penang for entrusting Penang Chefs Association to conduct the Penang International Halal Chefs Challenge for the 4th year running.

As the global food consumption is ever on the rise, halal produces and related foodstuff are the fastest product gaining worldwide recognition as a new benchmark for safety and quality assurance. Moreover, food preparations that are produced with Halal certification are readily acceptable by Muslim consumers as well as consumers from other religions. This acceptance is due to the wholesomeness concept of halal, which covers not only the Shariah requirement, but also the hygiene, sanitation and safety aspects.

The 4th Penang International Halal Chefs Challenge is perhaps the biggest and most ideal platform in Malaysia for any aspiring young or professional Chefs to be equipped and knowledgeable is every aspect of food handling, preparation and of course to showcase their culinary skills.

In closing, on behalf of the Penang Chefs Association, I would also like to thank all the sponsors, associates and my hard working committee whom had put in months of planning and preparation to welcome all of you to PIHCC 2017. May you have a great competition and hope to see you on the podium during the certificates and medals presentation.
